WISCONSIN STATE FAIR
2023 Fairtastic Artwork Competition
The 2023 Fairtastic Poster Art Competition invited artists to capture the joy of youth experiencing the Wisconsin State Fair through illustration styles. The winning artist received a $1,250 grand prize, with their artwork featured on commemorative posters and postcards. All entries were due by January 9, 2024.
This years competition was based around the the year of the creampuff, with a century of history. Even though I did not win this competition, I’m still very proud of the work I did for this competition and I think it still deserves a spotlight.
I found out about this competition with less than a week prior to the submission deadline. I wanted to enter this competition not only for the notoriety but also because I’m a huge fan of the WI State Fair and I thought I could capture the essence very well.
The color palette was based off of Wisconsin’s primary color of red and incorporated other warmer tones that would complement the red and the colors of the cream puff.
Food trucks, arcade games, food stands, barns, amusement rides, and the iconic ferris wheel are just a few of the elements that I thought were crucial to the poster.
